Set Associations
My operating system is Vista, I am using Windows Mail and am attempting to
open a Power Point file. I have been unable to do so because I have to
Create an association in the Set Associations control panel. Where do I find
the Set Associations control panel?

Re: Set Associations
Do you have PowerPoint on the Vista computer? If not, you won't be able to
set an association to it. But the easy way to get to the list is to
right-click the icon and choose Open. Choose the second option "Select a
program from a list of installed programs", then click PowerPoint (if it's
installed on that computer) and click OK.

Re: Set Associations
Do you have PowerPoint, or the PowerPoint Viewer?

If not, get the free PowerPoint viewer
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

If you install the viewer, it should take care of the file association.

If not, the file association can be found at
Start - Default Programs - Associate a file type...

Re: Set Associations
If you already have PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (or 2007) installed and yet this happens, check the following article for solution.

Re: Set Associations
If anyone else is reading this thread and has this problem, this fix worked
perfectly and the instructions are very straightforward.

RE: Set Associations
Well, I looked all over, and all I see is questions and no answers. How
could this post be helpful to me when all it does is ask the same exact
question that I have: Where the heck is the "set associations control
panel?????" nothing in my control panel works because none of the
associations have been set. What is the deal? Anybody know? Thanks. Rita
