show contacts list
hello.

i was wondering if there was a way to have your address book/contacts docked
inside win mail rather than having to open a seperate window when you press
contacts.

e.g. in outlook express you could have the address book stituated below the
folder list if you wanted. selected via; view - layout.

i liked having my contacts "within reach" as it were, rather than opening a
whole other window...

anyone know what i mean?

"Contacts" are available via Windows Explorer (the file manager), under
C:\users\<yourname>.
You might split a window between Explorer and Windows Mail.

Re: show contacts list
I agree with you. I liked being able to double-click on a contact to
initiate sending them a message. I dislike the separate window business.
Perhaps this will be an option we can select in some future update.

Re: show contacts list
Microsoft decided that since so few people were using
this feature they eliminated it. Most of the time people do
a Reply, or they click on Write Message, type a few letters
of the recipient's name in the To line, and auto-complete
should fill in the rest. Most of the time there's no need
to open the Contacts list.

Put the Contacts Gadget on the Side Bar.

Re: show contacts list
It would be nice if auto-complete worked like it did in OE. MS must have
NEVER tested Windows Mail because half the good features that did work in OE
are now gone or just don't work anymore in WM. A real abortion if you ask
me.

Re: show contacts list
Unfortunately MS came out with Windows Mail very late in the
Vista beta testing cycle. By the time beta testers started
submitting bugs, MS was gearing up towards RTM, and only
egregious "show stopper" bugs got fixed.

Re: show contacts list
I'll admit that I didn't test autocomplete, but then I never use it. I had
enough other stuff I wanted fixed. They fixed some of it.
