RE: Can't delete mail from deleted box

I can't delete in my "deleted items" box. The only emails left in "deleted
items" are emails that say "Message cannot be displayed." I try to delete
them and I get the unknown error message. I have shut down the email program,
shut down my computer and have gone back into email. The emails, or what
used to be emails are just stuck there. I'm not sure what happened to them
from the Inbox to the "deleted items" box, but they are "UN-emails" that are
just sitting there.

Try doing it several times. Some say it finally will delete them.
Otherwise, try compacting and if that doesn't help then repairing the

None of these solutions seem to work for me either. Do Microsoft experts
look at this an try to provide solutions?

Hi Steve,
Can good old Outlook Express 6 be installed to run under Windows Vista? This
Windows Mail sucks.

I've tried everything. For a while it would delete deleted emails one at a
time, now it won't delete any more and I have over 100 sitting there. In a
few days my whole hard drive space will be full. LOL! No busy person has time
to sit and try to delete emails all day and get nowhere. I never had a
problem, in years, with OUtlook Express.

Do you have antivirus software set to scan email? See

Ok I picked up the Utility and went thru evey option in it on both massages
store files.,. and keeps showing 2049 0 Byte files.. and trying to delete
gits rid of none.. and it grows buy the day.. any other ideas..

My advice is to sit tight and ignore this error for now.
Hopefully, the new email client program that Microsoft will release
later this month will correct this and other bugs.

I, too, have the same problems. However, I am able to delete today's mail
from all folders after reading it. I have to perform daily maintenance to
keep the deleted messages folder from building up. I still have a bunch that
I can't delete and when I try to open them, there's no message to display. I
tried changing the date on the Windows clock/calendar to match the dates of
the offending messages, but that did not work. Today, I tried accessing my
e-mail (same account) via my ISP's home page which is powered by MSN Live,
clicked on Hotmail, entered my password, read a message and deleted it. I
logged out, went to Windows mail and could not find the message anywhere! Not
in my inbox, not in my deleted folder. However, I'm waiting for the fix so
that I can do it all via Windows mail.
