Why doesn't my e-mail names auto complete when composing a new mes
I have the box checked in options, send, to auto complete but I still have to
type in everything when I send mail. I just purchased a new PC and I was
loking forward to having Vista, now I'm not so sure. What am I doing wrong?

Known bug. Apparently once you send mail to a contact, from
then on that contact will auto-complete.

Re: Why doesn't my e-mail names auto complete when composing a new mes
Thanks for confirming that.
Did you have an upgrade or a clean install? Some are also saying a corrupt
upgrade resulted in failure of the autocomplete? Its hard to get feedback
on stuff like this so thanks for that.

Re: Why doesn't my e-mail names auto complete when composing a new mes
I dual-boot. I did a clean install of Vista to a second partition,
keeping XP intact on the first partition. Then I used Vista's
Easy Transfer to carry over all my mail and settings.
In my case, the autocomplete failure was definitely not a
result of upgrading.

Re: Why doesn't my e-mail names auto complete when composing a new mes
Okay, thanks. I did the same as you and Autocomplete is not a problem. <G>
You do have it selected under Tools | Options | Send don't you?

Yes indeed: "Automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing."

Re: Why doesn't my e-mail names auto complete when composing a new
I have the same problem with email completion. The settings are correct but
in most cases I must open the contact list to find emails. However, sometimes
it will do a completion. It seems that if there has been recent activity to a
specific person then it will complete an email to them. Otherwise I have to
go hunt for the name.
The second problem is Windows Mail is inclined to add everyone to my contact
list. I have to periodically go through and delete addresses. The box for
"automatically put people I respond to in my contact list" is NOT checked.
