News group reading..
Seems that with the old version of outlook when I would first click on a
news group, no message within the group would open until I clicked on one of
the messages in the group. Now when I open a news group, the program
auto-opens the last message that was in the old listing list. Then any new
messages are shown. Is there any setting that waits for me to open messages
before displaying them?

Another issue - with the old news reader, if I read a message and closed the
program, it would remember which messages were read and mark them as such.
It seems with the new version, all messages are treated as unread and only
the new ones show up different(bold). I'm mainly talking about the little
folder icon showing up as opened.

Yes, this is different now and I don't think there's a way to get it back to
like it was in Outlook Express.

I can't see this problem. If they are unread when I close WinMail they are
unread when I open it. In news, the torn page becomes a full page when the
message has been downloaded. Bolding indicates whether or not it has been
read. Just like OE.

Tools -> Options -> 'Read' tab

In the 'News' section, clear the checkbox for "Mark all messages as read
when exiting..."
