Re: Windows Mail - Importing Outlook Express Mail
Hi.
I followed the instructions in 'www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#oe2wm'
( http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#oe2wm) until the end, and everything
seems to go smoothly. In step 6 I selected to import messages from all
the listed folders (the folders are listed correctly), clicked Import,
and imediately I get a message saying that all messages were imported
correctly... except that after after opening Windows Mail, the messages
are not there!
I've repeated this selecting only one folder, but the result is the
same.
I'm using Windows Vista Beta 2.
Has anyone had the same problem or know how to solve this?
Thanks.
Rui.

I run Outlook Express with Windows XP as my main PC. This PC is having
hardware problems so I have to switch to my Vista PC.
The dbx files have all my email messages, they're not corrupt and
they're not empty.
Any other ideas on what might be causing this?
I'm running Vista 64 Beta 2.
Thanks.

Re: Windows Mail - Importing Outlook Express Mail
Its possible you have blank dbx files and there are no messages in the
files.

Re: Windows Mail - Importing Outlook Express Mail
Normally, if it doesn't work, it gives an error message. If it says it
imported them okay, then I don't know what to think could be the issue.
Maybe the 64 bit version. Also with beta 2, there may be many problems as
they made many changes to WinMail after that.

Re: Windows Mail - Importing Outlook Express Mail
Hi,
Am trying to import my OE files from my Windows 98 computer (I know, I
know, but if it ain't broke...) to my new machine running Vista Home
Premium version 6.0 (build 6000).
Every time I try to import the .dbx files, I get a "No messages can be
found in this folder or another application is running that has the
required files open".
Thought that if I used Outlook, it might work better, but when I try to
import into Mail from Outlook, I get "Messages cannot be imported from
the MAPI client. An error has occurred."
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as my ISP is beginning to get
annoyed at how many files I have saved on the server using webmail!

I'd like to know too. My Windows 98SE machine won't run anymore.
I think I remember someone saying that when you import a .dbx file,
a certain other .dbx file must be in the same directory as the one you
are importing - so you might try importing it from a directory where you
have a copy of each .dbx file on the old computer.
