"some of the files could not be found"
Hi there,

I am trying to send a word file that contains song lyrics to a member of my
band. I am using Vista and Office Home & Student 2007 and each time I try and
attach the file it states that

'Some of the files could not be found, and could not be attached to the
message. Would you like to send the message anyway?'

Could somebody spread some light on this for me please. I am not using
office for a commercial purpose at all

Paul

I probably won't be able to help with the particulars, but maybe I can help
by requesting that you post some information that may help others to help you.

You should probably outline the exact steps you are going through when
trying to attach the mail. Someone may spot something you are doing which is
defeating you. You are saving the lyrics to the hard drive and closing the
Word (I assume that's the Office app you're using.) instance in which you
were editing the file, right?

Heh. Just a few posts down from yours is someone else with, maybe, the same
problem. And the issue there was, indeed, that Word was still open. The
problem would be that the mail program can't get ahold of the file because
Word still "owns" it.

Thanks. I think it is that the document is open, not that Word is open.

thanks so much for announcing to close word prior to sending the document. I
couldn't figure that out for a week.

This has been frustrating me all afternoon! Is this something new with Vista
mail? I can't remember this ever happening with Outlook Express... or am I
remembering incorrectly?

RE: "some of the files could not be found"
Open files that you had inserted as attachments have to be closed, maybe a
nice pop-up would help "Please close files that you are trying to attach to
this email, I really think that windows vista and office 2007 should solve
this problem. Hmmm

Thanks! "Microsoft Communities" took me to these postings when I encountered
the same problem, and so I was able to resolve it without the same amount of
headache some others seemingly encountered.

RE: "some of the files could not be found"
thanks one and all, i never had this problem with XP - what a pain, and of
course when I sent it, I got an error message stating my email was invalid
and my document was trapped in the Outbox, so I closed Word, started a
"clean" email, added my attachments and hit send, WHOOPS, not only did the
new email go, so did the STUCK one. very odd behavior
