Sorry to bother you both. I am brand new with Vista (one day) and tried the
spell check. Same result as Joanie. The trouble is I am no longer young (!)
and do not know how to change the language. Any help appreciated. Many thanks

Hi, Dave, "Old Chap", Join the club<grin>
Try this -
Look at the top bar in your, "Internet Explorer", for "Tools", and click to
open the, "Drop-Down Window".

Way down at the bottom of the drop-down window, click on, "Internet
Options", and another box will open.

On the bottom of this new box there is a tab called, "Languages", and it
should have the present language shown in the window.

Now look to the left on the new box and click, "Add",.

Now select any other language than UK English, (Try US-English).

Click o.k. and close the window.

Now do the same thing again but this time re-select UK-English and remove
the other language.

To take away all the mystery - the explanation is that the original
dictionary, or as MS calls it, "Lexicon", that was loaded when the program
was installed, was flawed and what you have just done is loaded something in
place of the flawed lexicon and then replaced that, in turn, with the
corrected UK-English dictionary that has been replaced with the routine MS
updates when the flaws were first discovered.
Now that wasn't so hard - was it?
Hope that helps,
Auld Bob Peffers.

Re: e-mail spell check
Changing the language preference in Internet Explorer does
not change it in Windows Mail.

Re: e-mail spell check
Sometimes it is just a matter of being a bit adventurous and trying
the obvious menu choices.
In Windows Mail: Tools, Options, Spelling.
