Vista Mail
I had been using Vista Mail for several weeks when it started asking for a
password. I put in the password for my email account but it doesn't accept
it and won't let me log in. How can I get it to stop asking me to log in?

Re: Vista Mail

Its easy enough to stop it asking for you password. Open the properties
of your account and open the "server" tab. There is a small square under
you apssword box "remember my password".
But this will not solve your problem if the account is not accepting
your password! Somehow it has got hold of the wrong username or you are
using the wrong password.

Re: Vista Mail
What I ended up doing is calling Charter (my internet provider) and having
them change my password while I was on the phone with them. Then I set up a
brand new email account with that new password. It worked. Before I did
this, I did have the setting changed to remember my password, but you need to
connect successfully at least once before that will work. It works now.

Re: Vista Mail
By the way, if you do this and it works, be sure to delete the other account
in your Mail program, otherwise it will keep trying to connect to that one.

Re: Vista Mail
The key to fixing this problem was creating a new mail account in
Windows Mail. You could have done the same thing with the old
username & password.
Mail accounts often get corrupted by antivirus software.

Re: Vista Mail
Actually that didn't work for me. I did try setting up a new account several
times as did my son (who works with computers and software all the time) and
it didn't work. I think somehow Charter changed my password because I
couldn't log into their website with the username and password I had, either
(when it had been working all along). I completely deleted the old account
and started over but it didn't like the login or password or both. Getting
my password changed and then setting up a new account was what worked.

Re: Vista Mail
Thanks for your feedback. Whenever the mail password fails to work
for webmail login, it becomes an ISP issue.
