Moving Outlook Express Folders
Can I move folders from Outlook Express to Windows Mail. I tried just
pointing Windows Mail at my old Outlook Express store, but it just gives an
error message saying the location is not empty.

Re: Moving Outlook Express Folders
You need to use File | Import | Messages as mikey indicates and then point
to the old OE directory. The message store is completely different from OE.

Re: Moving Outlook Express Folders
As you noted, Vista is changing the address in the dialogue box so its
pointing to a folder that in fact does not contain the message files.

Unfortunately changes to the addess seem to be blocked, so it can't be
fixed. I've tried everything.

Would this be easier to do by hooking up an old XP box, converting the
message files to WM format, then importing them into Outlook? OEX looks
great but money is tight.

Thanks,
Al

Have you tried Vista's Easy Transfer?
Worked great for me.

Re: Moving Outlook Express Folders
Just play around with it some more. You'll get path correct eventually. If
you've got the old dbx files intact, you don't need OEX.

Try a simple path. Put the files in c:\oldmail and then see if you can get
it to point correctly. It can be done, its just screwy.

Re: Moving Outlook Express Folders
Thanks for picking up the message. I've been going nuts with this.

The dialogue box doesn't let me change the info. I couldn't backspace or
delete. Its infurating. Any ideas?

I assume the deal is to import the old files into the new Windows Mail, then
import into Outlook 07?

Thanks again,
Al
