That message is from your SMTP server and indicates a problem with the
recipient or their server. Nothing you can do about it and nothing on your
machine caused it.

Re: Send Message via Vista WIndows mail
As Frank already told you, a delay notice has nothing to do with
your email program. It has everything to do with the status of
the recipient's mail server.

Re: Send Message via Vista WIndows mail
I,m delighted, I didn,t fancy disabling norton and going through rigmarole
suggested by brink, if you are right, how come I,m able to send messages with
norton security in place and people keep saying it won,t work?

Felinehen,
Most versions of Norton have a problem of not working properly with
Windows Mail. If you are lucky, Norton may have finally updated your
version so it will work properly. Just make sure that you have all
email scanning options turned off.
Do a search for Norton in this newsgroup and you will see the problems
people have had with it.
Hopefully you will not have a problem, but it has been known to strike
some time later with a problem.

How come you are responding to a post that has nothing to do
with antivirus issues?

Re: Send Message via Vista WIndows mail
I had the same exact problem, I could recieve but couldnt send, i was using
port 25, so i was going through the threads here and looking for different
ports people used, i changed the outgoing SMTP port to 587 instead of 25 and
I was able to send the mails!!!

Re: Send Message via Vista WIndows mail
Yes, if your mail provider supports an alternate SMTP port (587 or 465),
that is a good solution to the problem associated with port 25 blocking.
