convert pab to csv for import into windows mail
Can someone please tell me how to convert a PAB file ( outside of Outlook
Express - stored on disk ) to a CSV file so that I can then import that CSV
file into Windows Mail contacts ?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Re: convert pab to csv for import into windows mail
A .PAB (Personal Address Book) file is created, opened, and used EXCLUSIVELY
by Microsoft Office Outlook, versions 2002 and earlier. You need to open
this with Office Outlook, from which you can export its contents in .CSV
format.

Re: convert pab to csv for import into windows mail
Thanks Hal. I appreciate your response. Since I don't have Office on this
PC, I will send the file to work, convert it there and send the CSV file back
to my home PC. Interesting in that I haven't used straight Outlook at home
for email, but Outlook Express, and the PAB file is a backup that I took in
2004. Hopefully the back and forth will work. I was just hoping to stay on
the one PC and convert here. Thanks anyway.

Re: convert pab to csv for import into windows mail
Outlook Express creates a .WAB (Windows Address Book) file, usually
(Identity Name).wab. If you've been using OE, you might want to have a look
around for one of these. All you have to do with a .WAB file is put it on
your Vista machine, double click it, and follow the import wizard prompts.

Re: convert pab to csv for import into windows mail
Hi Hal,
Yes, I knew about using WAB files as it is one of the file formats
acceptable to the wizard. Right now, what I have access to and what I want
to convert is a PAB file. I was thinking that maybe I could set up another
identity within my Outlook at work ( regular Outlook ) and hook that file up
with that new identity. Is there a way to do that ?

Re: convert pab to csv for import into windows mail
I've learned that you can open a .PAB file with Microsoft Word.
Instructions are here:
http://mcs-notes1.open.ac.uk:8080/tb...f?OpenDocument
How can I convert my Exchange Mail Personal Address book into an ASCII text
file?

Re: convert pab to csv for import into windows mail
Hal,
Thanks for all the help. I will try this as soon as I locate my copy of
Office 2003 and load it up on this PC.
