Retrieving email
Hi. I have a new computer with Vista Home Basic. I have been using my
SBC/ATT Yahoo email for years but was tired of the advertisement pop-ups so
switched today to Windows Mail. Haven't had any problems (yet) and the
messages in my Yahoo account transferred automatically. I think I can get my
address book imported from what I read in other postings. Now, if I decide I
don't like WM or encounter some of the problems posted, I know how to go back
to Yahoo, but how would the messages in my inbox get back?
Also, how do I retrieve email remotely, such as from my office computer? And,
I have Trend PC-cillin and it seems to work fine with Vista.
Finally, take it easy on me, some of you guys are out there are vicious!

Re: Retrieving email
To answer your question, there is no easy way to return already
downloaded messages back to your AT&T Yahoo webmail.
However, you can configure Windows Mail to leave a copy of
newly downloaded messages on the server.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties, Advanced,
and you'll see that option.
Your remote computer would continue to have web access
to your mail account. Perhaps I'm not understanding what it is
that you want to do with your office computer.
Trend PC-cillin should work fine with Windows Mail as long
as you configure it so that it doesn't scan emails.

Re: Retrieving email
Thank you! As far as the office computer or while on vacation etc...I was
wondering what website I go to to retrieve my email. I tried everything I
could think of with Microsoft and Windows but never saw an icon or link to
"Windows Mail."

Re: Retrieving email
While on vacation, or when using a borrowed computer, you would
not use Windows Mail. You would use a browser like Internet
Explorer to access the Yahoo webmail site, http://mail.yahoo.com.
Log in with your AT&T/SBC email address and its password.

Re: Retrieving email
Really! I guess that is why when I looked at my Yahoo mailbox today just to
see what was going on, I had new messages there and thought the Windows Mail
had screwed up. Okay, so bottom line is I use Windows Mail at home and check
the Yahoo as always when not. Thanks! I am all set and hopefully won't
encounter any problems. To be on the safe side I think I will just enter my
contacts in the WM rather than transfer. Then they would for sure stay in
both places. I appreciate your help!
