mail will not connect

I get this message when I try to start up mail:
Account: 'pop3.valornet.com', Server: 'pop3.valornet.com', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR An authentication mechanism MUST be entered', Port:
110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Uncheck the option "Log on using Secure Password Authentication"
in the mail account properties.

Tools > Accounts > your email > Properties > Servers > etc.

dunno, but it looks like Valornet has been acquired by Windstream...
maybe you need to use their settings?
