Vista Home Premium 64 bit Fails to Install
I have purchased Vista Home Premium 64 bit full edition for a clean install.
But every time I attempt to install windows, during the expansion phase of
the files that windows copied over from the DVD to the hard drive, I
encounter error code 0x80070020 stating that some unnamed filed is
inaccessible and I need to restart the installation process. This error
occurs at ~67% percent expansion point. I've attempted to reformat the hard
drive to purge any residual data from previous failed installations, but at
the screen where you select which drive/partition to install, I now see 3
entries- one is my hard drive proper (Disk 0 Partition 1), but there are two
other unexplained entires both "Disk 0 Unallocated Space with Total Size and
Free Space 0.0 MB. Is this normal? I've have never seen a successful Vista
install to tell.
This is a brand new, clean system. The components are:Asus P5K mb, Intel C2D
6420, Gigabyte7600GT, Seagate ST3320620AS 320Gb SATA hard drive, G.Skill
2x1Gb DDR2 6400 ram and a Lite-On LH-20A1S SATA optical drive.
If anybody has some insight on how to resolve this I'll be most appreciative.
Thanks, Mike
