Disabling unnecessary services and processes
Hello everyone,

I see that there are a lot of tasks, services, and processes that are
running. I'm sure that I don't need all of them, and would like to disable
the unnecessary ones to save processing power.

Is there a way to do this safely?

Ideally, is there an application that presents to the user a list of yes/no
questions that looks something like this:

"Will you use a tablet PC? □ Y □N"
"Will you use a mobile PC? □Y □N"
"Will you be on a company network ? □Y □N"
"Will you use an ISP? □Y □N"
"Will you be using Bluetooth? □Y □N"
"Will you be working with video? □Y □N"
"Will you use remote connections? □Y □N"
" etc. ..."

After the user has made his/her selections, Vista will go and turn-off
/disable all the tasks, processes, and services that are associated with
those things that the user will not be using.

I know there is already a "turn windows features on/off" but the features
have very technical names that are hard to understand.

If a user changes his/her mind, (s)he can go back into "Customize Windows",
make the changes, and the application can automatically reinstate the
relevant processes, services, and tasks.

Thanks for your time and insight.

Paul

Take a look at Black Viper's Vista services configuration site:
