Hi,
An upgrade would have preserved user accounts, programs, settings, and
files. I suspect that this is not what you did, but rather have a clean
install of Vista where the old operating system is preserved in Windows.old.
You may need to take ownership or change permissions to access this folder
and recover data from it (just check Help & Support for the steps, it's well
documented). The programs will need to be reinstalled under the new
operating system, you can't just pull them over as they will be missing
needed registry entries and files placed in the user-defined run
environment.
