Office compatibility with different language OS

I'm considering purchasing a new computer in Japan which has the Japanese
version of Vista loaded onto it. I was considering buying the English
version of office once I returned home. Is the software compatible? Or am I
better off
purchasing the Japanese version of Office to avoid compatibility issues?

Should be compatible.

Not recommended. Mixing languages is always a bad idea.

I've used MS Apps & OS's of different languages together without any
problem.
