Easy tranfer running out of space
I have a C,D,E,F and G drive on source PC (XP Pro), and a C,D,E,F on Vista
Home Premium 64 PC. All the destination drives are much larger than the
source drives.
Drive Source Dest
C ---- 31G---50G
D ---- 120G--450G
E ---- 120G--200G (drive E on source contains c:\John's Documents)
F ---- 120G--200G
G ---- 100G (contains XP64 of dual boot setup, but which was never used and
deosn't work since last motherboard change)
The above are the partition sizes, but there is a lot of free space in them,
especially E,F,G.
My source PC has "My Documents" mapped to drive E and I've done the same
with the destination PC. First time I tried Easy Transfer using the cable, I
told it to copy Accounts, Setttings and Documents, but nothing else, and I
specifically excluded all of Drive G, and I specifically selected some
specific folders on drives D,E,F for transfer.
So when I try to start the transfer, I get a warning that everyting might
not fit ?!). WHY? So I let it start anyway and after a couple hours it fails
with not enough space on C.
So I figure Easy Transfer is too dumb to allow My Documents anyplace except
C, so I figure I will trick it.
This time I tell Easy Transfer to transfer Windows Settings and Accounts,
but absolutely nothing else except specific folders. I painstakingly go
through the process (again!) of excluding all of G, and including "E:\John's
Documents" and a bunch of other folders I want transfered on D,E,F. When I
start it again, I get the same freaking warning! WHY?
I let it continue and my hopes are up as it seems to be transferring data
from E:\John's Documents on the source and destination PCs!
When I come back an hour later, it has failed and drive C has again been
filled!
WTH is Easy (NOT!) Transfer doing? $%^&*#@
