Vista Ugrade - software and backup

When upgrading from XP to Vista, will software I installed, such as Adobe
Photoshop/Illustrator, Auto Cad and etc, be deleted off my computer? And do
I need to export my email in Outlook Express before upgrading?

It depends on how the upgrade is done, what OS you're upgrading from, and
what version of Vista you are upgrading too. If an in place upgrade is
supported, then data and programs are migrated. For a custom install it's
not. So give more details on what you are planning to get a more specific
reply.

you might want to run the upgrade advisor from ms.
it is not perfect but will give you some advise on programs that should uninstalled prior to upgrading.
