How do I reactivate Vista HP OEM after mobo mismatch problem?
Hi,
I am a victim of the Vista/nF3 chipset motherboard/ATI VGA graphics card/AMD
dual core CPU, mismatch problem. Of course I did not know it at the time I
upgraded my CPU to an AMD dual core model. (There is no mismatch with an AMD
single core CPU).

It is the fault of nVidia who have refused to issue updated AGP drivers for
Vista.

Anyway, to overcome this mismatch, I have bought an ABIT AV8 VIA chipset
motherboard on eBay, and now need to reinstall VISTA HP OEM onto it.

Now I am worried that I may have a difficulty re-activating my version of
VISTA.

Do you think I will be able to re-activate my OEM Vista after changing the
motherboard? At what point in the installation process will I become aware
that there is a difficulty, and how should I go about getting Microsoft to
understand that this is a genuine case of needing to change the motherboard?

Many thanks

Roy Mayo.

When you get to the activation process you will be asked whether to do this
over the internet or call in to Microsoft. You will need to call into
Microsoft to get the reactivation key. Pain in the butt but it will work.

Not unless you obtained that motherboard from HP; otherwise, their OEM
version of the OS won't even install.
