Re: How to create Vista default profile
I did the same thing; Login as myself, set things up the way I want,
reboot, log in as admin, copy my profile to c:\users\default user\
I always do this (in XP) with the hidden files off, I just type in the
path. Vista prompted that it was already there (same as usual here)
but from then on, any user trying to use this default user profile to
create a new profile gets the error: "the user profile service failed
the logon" ...
I connected to the computer's hard drive from another pc
\\share\c$\users and noticed that "default user" was no longer a hidden
folder -- so I marked it hidden. Then I noticed that was another hidden
(new since XP) folder called "Default" .. only "Default" was empty. I
copied all the files in "Default User" to the "Default" folder ... and
voila! I can log in as a new user.
I wonder if if c:\users\default\ is the new default user share? Or
maybe there's a better way to do this in Vista?
