Ugrading to vista Ultimate 32bit

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 which came preloaded with vista
premium.Recently i have also purchased a vista Ultimate pack which came
with both 32bit and 64 bit versions.
The laptop has 3 GB ram.
pls advice me to which version shud i upgrade and how.
cos upgrade evn to 32bit does not work the advisor says to do a clean
install.Do i need to do a complete new installation or is thr some way
of upgrading the existing software.Thank u

If you go with the 32bit version, everything should still work as it does
now..
