Just finished putting together my first ever build.
A very basic one
just for home and web and to (hopefully) play with vista. This is a new
machine and a clean install (new HD).
All my parts are new and all except ram and graphics board are from e

My issue is the installation of the vista OEM pack.
After wasting several hours trying to install this (about 4 times) I am
asking the forum members for any resolution they may be able to give.
This installation is slow but the main issue is that when I reach the
product activation key section I start to have problems.
I have input the key then clicked the next button.
After a wait I get a new box come up asking me to insert windows
installation disc 1. (The OEM came as 1 disc only)
If I click cancel it wants to cancel the whole installation. If I click
ok it will keep coming up until I get this error message.
“Windows cannot open the required file D\scources\install\wim. Make
sure all files required for the installation are available and restart
the installation. Error code 0x8007000D.”
Why would it ask for installation discs for a complete installation
when I only have 1 disc and I am not doing an upgrade.
On the disc it mentions that it includes windows anytime upgrade, don’t
know if this may have any bearing on this.
Hope someone may have some ideas as I would like to set up my new build
and update ASAP.
