Re: CD/DVD drive driver error on install
Something in your post does not make sense--
"The computer just has a formatted HD and the mobo is an MSI k9n".
"The drive works fine to put the install dvd in '--
You must have some sort of DVD drive, which one perchance? Make? Model? Type
of interface?
The usual advice is to check the drive connectors/cables for proper mating,
make sure any jumpers are correct, and that the drive is functional. (This
may require the use of mfrs test software, or the use of another P/C.)
I just had a Sony 830 DVD burner fail in such a way that it would read &
write CDs/ Write DVDs, but not read DVDs. The drive started to fail when it
was trying to read several Game DVDs with copy protection, then progressed
to not reading most DVDs. The same drive passed the mfrs test program until
it tried to read DVDs.
DVD burners are getting cheaper by the day, unless they are "Blue-Ray".
You can try using a drive cleaning disk, but don't expect miracles.
