Upgrading PC Activation / Deactivation
I am running Vista 64 on my desktop as well as office 2007. My mother board
is starting to crash often, this is nothing new it was doing the same thing
under XP. Now I am going to go out and upgrade the mother board and
Processor. What do I do about the activation keys for the Vista and the
office?

I know I get 3 computers for the office and I don't want to waste them. Is
there a way I can deactivate them to get ready for my upgrade?

Thanks.

You can't de-activate them. What you can do is activate them which will
fail, then do it by Telephone and talk to the person at the other end.

this?

Re: Upgrading PC Activation / Deactivation
You won't be able to do it in advance. You have to be at the computer when
you call.

I don't think most people understand the process accurately. They aren't
monitoring your computer every minute and you don't really "deactivate" the
old number. You are essentially just associating the number with new
hardware.
It is just when you try to activate a product, it checks to see if it was
activated previously. If it was, then you need to call them (India
probably, who you can barely understand and they won't understand you).
They essentially transfer the key to the new configuration.
