Removing Vista and Reinstalling XP
I have decided to junk Windows Vista and go back to Windows XP Pro. However,
when I boot from the Windows XP Pro disc I after it loads drivers shows a
blue screen and says things like remove any new hard drives or controllers,
check for a virus, etc. with no option of going any further. When I boot
from the Vista DVD everything goes fine.

I can't do a rollback to XP because this is a new system and the hard drives
were partitioned and formatted by the Vista setup program.

Any suggestions on how to remove Vista and reinstall XP Pro?

Thanks,

=(8)

I think, start with the Vista CD, go to the repair console and
type bootsect.exe/nt52 to replace the XP-bootloader. Now I hope
you can install XP.

I also have this same issue. I only have Windows XP Pro without
service packs.

You should be able to use the Vista DVD to kill Vista. Ignore the page where
you type in the access code. (leave it blank) Vista will ask if you really
want to skip that... reply yes. A couple / few pages onward and you can
access "disk management" or words to that effect. At this point you should
be able to delete the Vista partition. Then STOP. Remove Vista DVD.
You should now be able to install XP if you have the correct XP install CD
and access code. Meaning if you have an OEM CD you need an OEM access code.
Retail XP CD ... need a retail XP access code.
Once XP is installed you'll need the basic drivers to make things work. So
have them ready on a CD.
At the very least have the chipset and network card drivers ready.
You may need to do a "phone activation" to MS to activate. It's a tedious
procedure.

Re: Removing Vista and Reinstalling XP
Go to the manufacturers web site for your hard drive. Find their utility that
will allow you to zero out your drive. This will remove everything on the
drive and you will have a clean hard drive. You can now install Windows XP.
