Error when trying to install fonts

I'm using Vista and I have a bunch of ttf files on an external drive. When I
use Control Panel to try to install the fonts it tells me that they aren't
valid. Explorer has them tagged at True Type Fonts, so I'm not sure where
the problem is coming from. Any thoughts on how to get around this problem?

Just as an experiment...copy one of them to
your system drive and then try dropping it into
the Fonts folder.
