Vista SP1 no longer available via automatic updates?

A few days ago I had to reinstall Vista after my hard disk had crashed. No
problem reinstalling, but Vista Service Pack 1 does not show up on the list
of available updates. Strangely enough, just about two weeks ago, before the
disk crash, I did upgrade to Vista Ultimate SP1 via the automatic updates.

Is this option no longer available and should I download the 400 MB version,
or is there some other problem that causes it (no longer) to appear on
available updates?

PS - Other updates are listed in the normal way. Important and recommended
updates were installed.

I heard that SP1 was pulled due to problems.

You need to install a bunch of updates before SP1 can be installed (about 3
or 4 reboots worth). I did this last night.

Thank you both for your feedback. Actually, I made sure to have installed
all "important" and "recommended" updates (not the optional ones, though),
but it looks like Jeff is correct in that SP1 has been (temporarily, let's
hope) pulled.

After the repeated delays and staggered release of SP1, it didn't come to my
mind that the update via WAU would be pulled just two or three weeks after
having been made available that way, so I did some more research and found
the following article on the subject: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/92457,
which has also a link in it for some additional information.

Bottom line is that it doesn't seem to be available via WAU right now, but
hopefully pretty soon. Regards.
