Hi,

I am attempting to upgrade to Windows Vista from XP SP3 and it fails about
halfway through the "gathering files" section. Here are the contents of

Hello.

I am sorry to hear you're having trouble with your upgrade. There is a
process to use the upgrade disk to do a clean install. First, backup all
your important files and documents. Next, read this excellent tutorial
with step by step instructions on how to do a clean install with an
upgrade disk. Here's the link:

Uninstall SP3 from Windows XP, then perform
the upgrade to Windows Vista.

I've tried removing SP3, but it's giving me the same error. I'm suspecting
my antivirus might be conflicting (bitdefender). I'll try removing that and
try once more.

Re: Cannot Upgrade to Vista - An Error Occurs (Xp SP3)
Thanks for the tip and usually I'd do a clean install since this is the full
ultimate disk, however this time I want to upgrade because I don't want to go
through the hassle of reinstalling my programs.

Hi,

I am running an intel imac with Core Duo 2.0 ghz processor, 1 gb of ram, ATI
Radeon X1600 and a 250 gb hard drive. It has been perfectly capable of
running vista before, it's just that I felt like doing an upgrade to my xp
installation.
