Problems with initial sign on with brand new pre installed W V Hom

I purchased a brand new Inspiron 1501 with Windows Vista Home Basic already
installed and I was able to get as far as setting up my password(very simple
2letter4number pw) and when I went to sign in for the first time it won't
accept my password, it keeps telling me "the user Id or password are
incorrect" and the password was a very simple one and I know I did not type
it in wrong. It just simply will not accept it. is there a way I can start
all over by maybe uninstalling this program and somehow re-install so that I
can actually use my brand new pc?

Have you tried booting in safe mode and choosing the built-in administrator
account (blank password)?
