Yahoo Messegner doesnt connect

I have installed Vista Ultimate and everything else seem to work but the
Yahoo Messenger 8.1. The IM installs, however fails to connect. It was
working fine with XP SP2. All other Internet activity works fine. I have
Kaspersky AV and WIndows firewall.

i have the same problem with my windows vista premium
i installed it n the norton internet security auto protect was disabled n
unable to connect to messenger if i uninstalled y messenger the autoprotect
is fine i dono whas the prob i m really pissed off now tryin all possible
solutions
plss help me

I would recommend checking the firewall settings to see if it is indeed
blocking Y! Messenger connections. I run Vista Business on my laptop with
Y! Messenger as well and have no issues connecting.

Also, you might want to consider looking into the Windows port of GAIM at
http://gaim.sourceforge.net if you do not need all the extra features in
Yahoo!'s version.
