Easy transfer Freezing

How long should Easy transfer (From Ultimate to Home) take to migrate
personal folders (about 9GB)? I left it running overnight and the "Collecting
data for transfer" bar was about 1% full! Does anyone know if I can just copy
my personal settings onto a removable HD and just copy it to the new PC?
