Home Premium Repeated install failure

I'm trying to install Home Premium Upgrade on a Compaq Presario on which I
have previously succesfully installed Beta 2 and the Release Candidate DVD
releases.
I have tried installing on a well managed home set up, first after a good
clean up, then on a clean XP Home installation, after adding SP2 and auto
updates; then I tried installing over the release candidate of Ultimate. I am
now running a fully patched and compliant system for upgrade, yet I
consistently recieve at some stage of installation a message advising memory
access error or DVD disc access errors.

Has anyone experienced similiar and found a solution?

you can not install over ultimate beta try this format clean install windows
xp no service packs are necessary the upgrade in windows xp your home
premium version should have no problem if this doesn't work than you have a
hardware problem
