running more then 3 programs on windows vista

Please, help me I'm not able to run more than 3 programs on windows vista at
my compaq notebook. What can I do?

What version of Vista are you running? If it is one of the 'Starter'
versions, then you are limited as to how many programs you can run at the
same time. If it is not, then it could be that your laptop would benefit from
having more memory.

some information such as what happens when you try to start the 4th program.
