Upgrade from XP to Vista failed
Hi,
Upgrade from XP to Vista failed. I think I understand why, but Vista setup
won't boot. I am still able to work on the laptop on XP. How do I remove the
failed Vista installation so I can make a clean start once I've resolve the
base issue? I'm assuming this is how I must proceed. Alternatively, is there
a way to restart the upgrade process? Right now, the failed upgrade took so
much disk space that the upgrade advisor complains there isn't sufficient
free space to upgrade.
I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions...
Thanks in advance...
Barry

Re: Upgrade from XP to Vista failed
Hi,

If you were installing to a separate volume (which isn't really an upgrade,
but rather a dual boot), then simply format that volume. If the bootloader
was altered, you will need to boot your XP media disk and run fixmbr/fixboot
to rewrite the bootloader back to the XP version.
