Cannot install vista sp1 (rc)

have tried installing vista sp1 through windows update. am running vista
ultimate x64. installation of sp1 always stalls after a while and event
viewer gives the following error:


windows servicing failed to complete the process of changing update
936330-59_en-us_gdr from package kb936330(service pack) into
staged(staged) state

have tried installing sp1 from the standalone package in normal and
safe mode but it stalls jut the same. any idea?

The failure to install SP1 may not be a bad thing as it is still essentially
in test form and should not be installed on a production machine..

How much spare disk do you have it sounds like the update may not have room
to store its temporary files used during the update process?
I have installed both WinUpdate version and the full version on 3 systems
without any troubles at all. The systems are both more stable and have
better performance.

Have you reported the issue to Microsoft by filing a bug via the SP1 RC
program? If not, please do so and someone will follow up with you soon.

Vikas,
If Labella can not install SP1 RC1 how do you expect her to report a bug
when using it??

what do you think i should do.
and if it is not need how do i not get the reminder to download it

I have been trying to install the same Windows Vista Service Pack 1 KB936330
for 2 days. I keep receiving notices that the attempts have both faild. I
have my system set up for automatic updates and have also tried to install
this myself times but records only show that 3 attempts to download this.
The two error codes I received starting as of 28 May 08 were: 80248007 and
today's was Code 4C7. I am not sure with the successful message that it has
been uploaded due to the number of times I have tried to install this. Any
help with this is appreciated, as I have been taught today, how very little I
know about the workings of a computer.
