Read Only Problem

My company recently purchased computers with the new Vista software on them.
Unfortunately, they didn't verify whether or not our old software would work
with it. I have contacted the company about manually installing the software,
and I have done so successfully so far. However, I need my software to be
able to download to a file on the C drive and create files within this
folder. However, every time I try to remove the "Read Only" function from the
folder, it keeps re-setting it after I click "Apply" and "Ok". Once you
re-load the Properties, the "Read Only" is toggled right back on again. Does
anyone know how to fix this? I have logged in as the administrator, and it
still doesn't seem to help.

Hi SGrimes,

Vista does not have Read-only attributes for folders anymore, only
files. You can read more about it in this tutorial.

Since it is older software, you may either need to run the software in
Compatibility Mode or try taking ownership of the folders or files the
older software is trying to save to.
