How to reinstall Vista without losing the programs

the only way to install and keep the program files and data, is to have the
retail version dvd of vista.

the oem version does not have the program. it just treats your hard drive as
a new hard drive. no option with oem.

Use the DVD to perform an Upgrade Installation. An upgrade installation will
leave all of your programs and personal files intact.
