Problem install. Vista Home Basic

I hope I'm writing this in the right place!

I just bought a brand new laptop, an Acer Travelmate 5320, with OEM
Vista Home Basic in it.

I unpacked the laptop, plugged it in and the vista installation began.
So far so good. But after a while, this message popped up:

"The computer has restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected
error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To intall Windows, click
"Okay" to restart the computer and then restart the installation"

Well, I have clicked that "OK" 5 times now - and it just comes back.

I've turned the laptop off and back on again. I still get that same
message.

Ideas, anyone?

Return the computer to the seller; and demand a new one.

Vista comes pre-installed on yours.
You only have to set up your accounts, if you want to.

Definitely defective computer.

Agreed!

One does not need to install Windows on a new machine...
it more than likely has a hardware proplem.

Be sure to return it at once to the place of purchase!
