Deletion question

I just completed transferring a lot of old files & progs from my old XP
machine to my new Vista Ultimate machine and found that a lot of search and
other data from the old computer is displayed when I select "Start Search"
and key in just one or two letters. In addition, when I hit "See All
Results" there are page after page of old references shown.

When I highlight these items and right-click to delete the delete command
cannot be selected, nor can I find any other way to get rid of these
unnecessary files.

How can I get rid of them?
