CPU upgrade

I am upgrading from a Sempron to a AMD 4200 x2 Dual Core processor. I have
Vista Ultimate. I installed Vista Ultimate online, from Vista Basic, I have
the Vista Basic CD's. Will there be any validation problems? If so how do I
reinstall Vista Ultimate from an online download?

Hi Steve,

There will be no need to reinstall Vista. The worst that will happen
is that you will get a message saying your Vista activation is no longer
valid. To fix this, you will most likely just have to do a phone
activation. This tutorial will show you how.

Hi Steve,

Before you upgrade, check that you motherboard can indeed take the new
processor. Generally they can, but they might require a BIOS update, in which
case follow the manufacturer's instructions, and be aware that updating your
BIOS is a risky business which can leave you with a dead machine. If you need
to do the update, be aware that you do so at your own risk. Also be aware
that if you do need to upgrade your BIOS then reactivation WILL be necessary.
