Problems with installing XP over Vista

I have just purchaed a PC with Vista pre-installed. This PC has to be
connected with multiple printers, multiple other pcs, and a MAC,
BUTvista does not have drivers available for those printers and
networking seems to be an issue. I decided to install XP over vista but
unfortunately, I get an error as follows:
A Problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent
samage to your computer
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart
your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps
Check for virused on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard
drives or hard drive controllers. Chech you hard drive to make sure it
is properly configured and terminated. Run Chkdsk/f to check for hard
drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical information"
STOP: 0X0000007B (0xF78D663C, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
I restarted the PC, uninstalled the MCAfee, and tried doing everything
possible but could not get the XP CD to run.
The system configuration is as follows:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel(R) Core(TM)2CPU 4400@2.00GHz
2.00 GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Hi ComputerGeek

I guess you have learned that before buying a computer with a new operating
system, you should make sure that you can get drivers what work on that new
OS for all the hardware you want to use from that OS.

There are more lessons to be learned, though. Now you want to install a
different, older OS (WXP) on this new computer's hardware. Have you checked
to see whether there are WXP drivers for all the hardware in this computer?
Like perhaps a SATA drive that XP doesn't know about? Many computers with
Vista preinstalled were designed with Vista in mind and the manufacturer may
not have spent any money on creating drivers for older OSs.

In any case, XP can't be installed as an 'upgrade' to Vista. You have to
reformat the hard drive from the WXP installation CD. Then you might have a
chance at installing WXP, if you don't have driver problems.
