Hi,
Visit the website of your laptop manufacturer and see if there is a Vista
compatible sound card driver for your model available. Without one, the
sound is apparently not natively supported. If there isn't one at the
laptop's site, check the system documentation for the type of sound card
chip installed and visit the sound card maker's site for one.
