install sbcglobal newsgroup on vista machine?

Howdy, I have sbcglobal newsgroups running perfectly fine on my notebook
with xp. It runs wirelessly through the same ATT DSL router that I
connected my new Vista machine to.

When I typed exactly the same NEWSGROUP settings on my new Vista
setup...I get a -480- or maybe -408- "bounce" message. One place I
checked on the net said to remove the McAfee protection to access mail
and newsgroups. That didn't sound very safe. Mail is coming in just
fine and I even like the SPAM and PHISH notes being automatically
added. Any help appreciated. thanks, RichG

I did a Google for the error code ( sorry that I left it off here when I
posted my inquiry) error code ---800 ccca2 ---says that I did not have
my name and password filled in..

That is correct, even though the Input page had the area "greyed"
out....I added name and password and everything worked just fine.
