Migwiz.exe Problem
My old PC has XP Pro on it. I am trying to migrate my files using migwiz to
a new computer which has Vista Ultimate. When it comes to the part when I
have to go to my old XP computer and insert the thumb drive, I get the
following error message:

"There was an error scanning the data on your system. Windows Easy Transfer
will now be canceled."

I have tried using migwiz by using a thumb drive, network, external hard
drive, and even the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable. Each time I get the same
error. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

RE: Migwiz.exe Problem
Sounds like a permissions error. Make sure you are logged onto both machines
with the same Admin username and password.

Cheers,

Lara

Re: Migwiz.exe Problem
Actually, both machines do have the same Admin username and password. There
are no other users. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks for your help.

Re: Migwiz.exe Problem
Did you manually copy install file to XP and install it? I used cross over
cable and mapped drive on both to c$ on other.

Re: Migwiz.exe Problem
In Migwiz, it gives you the opportunity to copy to a thumb drive. Then it
says to insert the drive in the old XP machine from which you want to copy
the files. After inserting the thumb drive in the XP machine, the install
file loaded automatically. I wanted to copy over a home network. Both
computers can access each other. Thanks.
