Vista and SQL Enterprise Manager
we are testing Vista Business editions, the 32bit and the 64bit, and i am
trying to find a way to use the SQL Enterprise Manager to maintain our SQL
2000 servers. i am unable to install it from the SQL Server 2000 discs. i
have only tried to install it on the 64bit edition and not yet the 32bit.

i did find that i could use the management studio that comes with SQL 2005
but we currnetly do not have this version in place.

What else is available to us?

thanks

Hello,

Try the remote management console.

- Enable the capablity to connect remotely on the SQL server.
- From Vista Start Remote console: All Programs -> Accsesories -> Remote
desktop connection
- Type in login name/ server name/ domain name, as required

Re: Vista and SQL Enterprise Manager

Is there any other option to install 2000 SEM on Vista 64bit besides
remoting to a server, which realy isn't a solution at all?

Thanks for the help!

I have Toad for SQL Server installed on a 64 bit XP pro machine at work and
my Vista 32 bit Ultimate laptop machine. It can manage Sql Server 2000 and
2005 databases.
