visual c++ 6.0

Hello folks,

i got visual c++ 6.0 but when i tried to install in the vista it says it is
not compatabile. Even then i some how successfully installed it. but once i
had shutdown my notebook, and tried next day it did not even boot. I had to
use my back upCD to reinstall it.

so, why question..

What should i do ? I tried to Serivce pack but it didnot work. It said it
can not install.

please some one tell me clearly how do i sole my problem.
