You should not need to reinstall Vista to get Aero. At least try to have it
re-assess your computer:
Right click on 'computer', select 'properties', click on the link by your
'windows experience index' score under 'system'.
A new window will open. Under the blue numerical score on the right side,
click on the link "Update my score".
After that is complete, try right clicking on the desktop, selecting
personalize, click 'Windows color and appearance', and try to enable Windows
Aero.
If none of this works, then it is evident that your graphics card does not
support aero. What graphics card do you have? How much dedicated memory does
it have?
