Windows Contacts

I HATE Vista. Give me XP any day. Now that I've got that off my chest....

I'm trying to use Windows Mail since my totally serviceable Office 2000
Outlook doesn't work right with Vista. I was able to import my contacts
from Outlook 2000 to Windows Contacts, but now I can't create a new contact.
All that happens is a popup box flashes and disappears so fast I can't tell
what it says.

I tried adding new contacts in Outlook 2000 so I could reimport that file
and update Windows Contacts...but, no, that no longer works either. When I
click on Import (or Export) a popup box appears but all it contains is an X
in a red circle.

Any ideas how to fix this?
